The Long Way Home is Troy Selling’s raw, honest account of his early memories and experiences growing up in South African coloured townships during apartheid. He highlights the challenges, struggles, countless losses and fears as well as the triumphs from childhood to adolescence; into adulthood and experiencing his first love where he had his heart broken and finally finding lasting love and becoming a father to two beautiful daughters.

It is a story of resilience, growth and strength as much as it is a journey of introspection, goal setting and the discovery of self-worth.

From an Eland House flat in Butcher Place, Sydenham, to Flounder Place, Newlands East and eventually the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (the roof of Africa), his achievements far outweigh the obstacles he has faced.
